Point number 7 in Dr Klaper's article Stage 4 Breast Cancer: Constructive Actions is fasting! He says,
Dr Alan Goldhamer founded the TrueNorth Health Center in Santa Rosa, California. This center has been conducting medically guided water-only fasts and juice fasts for over 30 years. After the fast is over, TrueNorth physicians and nutritionists advocate a Whole Food Plant-Based diet, especially SOS-Free (devoid of salt, oil and sugar). Dr Klaper worked at True North for many years.
Research papers: Medical / scientific evidence for benefits for fasting is scant. In 2015, TrueNorth published a case report in British Medical Journal. In 2018, a followup report was published at the 3-year mark. These case reports centered around 1 patient whose cancer remained in regression for three years after medically supervised fasting at TrueNorth. Dr Alan Goldhamer summarizes these case reports (3 mins, YouTube).
Note: Fasting could be a potentially dangerous exercise for somebody with a serious illness. Please consult with TrueNorth Health Center, Santa Rosa, California, for medically-supervised fasts.
Also available on Amazon (free with Prime; 400+ reviews; 4.5 rating). Towards the end, they explain why 1-day or 2-day fasts are likely to be introduced as a preparatory step for chemotherapy in US hospitals.
Cancer and Fasting / Calorie Restriction (article at UCSF) summarizes research till 2016. A more recent article: Can fasting help fight cancer? (2019).
