Dr Brooke Goldner has a healing protocol centered around green smoothies for autoimmune conditions. She chooses only flax and chia for EFAs (Essential Fatty Acids). Why?
An insightful video by Dr Brooke Goldner - she explains why she chooses only flax & chia for EFAs (Essential Fatty Acids); no land animals; no processed foods; no other nuts n seeds, for her green-smoothie centric healing protocol for autoimmune conditions.
Her reasoning centers around the idea that a high Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio in our diet promotes the Omega-6 → AA (Arachidonic Acid) pathway over the Omega-3 → DHA/EPA pathway.
Now flax & chia have an unusually high Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio. When coupled with removal of land animals, processed foods, nuts and seeds from our diet, our total Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio through diet swings in favor of Omega-3's.
… but why not eat fish (marine animals) which have high Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio for the same purpose? Dr Goldner explains that fish is highly polluted with POPs, PCBEs, …
Dr Goldner mentions that avocados have an adverse Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio relative to each other. However, the total quantity of EFAs (Omega-3 and Omega-6) is not too large in absolute terms. And in her experience, those who adopted her green-smoothie centric healing protocol along with avocados experienced great results, including weight loss.
