(3 mins) Transcript. This video explains that sulforaphane is excellent for boosting liver function (by boosting detoxifying enzymes in the liver).
This video also presents a simple explantion of how sulforaphane is produced: when a herbivore chews on broccoli! There is no sulforaphane in broccoli itself; it's produced when two different chemicals inside broccoli come together after chewing (breaking the cell walls apart).
This video also compares the amount of sulforaphane content in different cruciferous veggies: gold goes to broccoli, silver to kohlrabi, bronze to cauliflower. Rapini or broccoli raab (which is expensive and gourmet food) actually has 500 times less sulforaphane than broccoli).
[Other videos by Dr Greger mention that broccoli sprouts have even more sulforaphane than broccoli but this particular video by Dr Greger's video doesn't mention broccoli sprouts.]
(3 mins) Transcript. Summary: Dr Greger explains multiple studies that showcase the efficacy of broccoli (and cruciferous veggies in general) at improving liver function (detoxifying enzymes get boosted).
