Perilla Seeds Chutney (WFPB, Oil-Free)

Perilla seeds (Scientific name: Perilla frutescens) have a high Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio, just like flax seeds and chia seeds. In some parts of the world, perilla seeds are used for lunch and dinner recipes, or as a chutney by the side. Perilla seeds are not mentioned by WFPB doctors in USA in their articles and videos. I wonder if this is due to lack of familiarity with these seeds in the West, or if this is due to contraindications for perilla seeds.
Thoising Asuba | Manipuri Cuisine

Perilla seeds paste is known as Thoiding Asuba in Manipuri langauge. The overall idea is very similar to Flaxseed Chutney.

1 cup perilla seeds (Thoiding)
7-8 dry chllies (Morok Akangba)
2 in ch ginger (Sing)
3 tbsp chopped corinader leaves (Phadigom)
½ onion (Tilhou), roughly chopped
½ tsp salt (Thum)

6-7 dried red chilies

Naga & Manipuri Recipes With Perilla Seeds
(3 mins) Thoidingga Hanggamga Chamthong | Mustard Leaves & Pounded Mustard Seeds Stew

This video doesn't show how to prepare Thoiding Asuba, but how to use it in an oil-free recipe with msutard greens (a cruciferous leafy green).

Ingredients:
350 gms of mustard leaves
Few slices of ginger
5-6 pieces of wild orange skin (heiribob)
2 and half crushed perilla balls (thoiding asuba)
Chopped dill leaves / paokhon (optional)
1/2 tsp of crushed chilli or chilli flakes / morok asuba
Chopped coriander leaves / phadigom
Salt to taste

(5 mins) Ashiqheni Ye (leaves) with Perilla Seeds | Naga Kitchen

This recipe doesn't use Thoiding Asuba but uses perilla seeds.

Ingredients:
Ashiqheni Ye (leaves)
Pounded perilla seeds: 1 cup
Fermented bamboo shoot (shredded): 1 cup
Ginger: 2 inch
Salt: 1 tablespoon/ as per taste
Hot water: 1.6 liter (add as per your consistency)

Silam Chutney | Nepalese Cuisine

In Napelese cuisine, perilla seeds are known as 'Silam'.

Perilla seeds are called 'Bhangjeera' or 'Bhanjeera' in Uttarakhand.
