(2017) Is Nutritional Yeast Healthy For Everyone?

(6 mins) Transcript. Dr Greger's summary: "Those with certain autoimmune diseases such as Crohn's disease should probably not eat nutritional yeast."

This video summarizes evidence pointing in this direction: those with Crohn's should not consume anything with yeast (nutritional yeast powder, bread, etc.) — even tiny amounts of yeast (a pinch / 15mg) may be sufficient to induce negative reactions.

(2022) Does Nutritional Yeast Trigger Crohn's Disease?

(7 mins) Transcript. An interesting video connecting nutritional yeast and Crohn's disease. Dr Greger's summary: "Is the exaggerated reaction of many Crohn's disease patients to baker's brewer's, and nutritional yeast just a consequence of their inflamed leaky gut, or might the yeast be a contributing cause?"

(2021) Is Candida Syndrome Real?

(7 mins) Transcript. Dr Greger's summary: "Does the presence of Candida in stool correlate with 'Candida-hypersensitivity' symptoms, such as headaches and tiredness? And what happens when people are placed on a high-sugar diet?"

Worth watching only if interested in the relationship between Crohn's Disease and nutritional yeast.

(2017) Dietary Cure for Hidradenitis Supporativa (HS)

(8 mins) Transcript. Summary: HS is a nasty disease; evidence that dairy removal and yeast removal helps in reversal of symptoms. An excerpt from this video:

But Crohn's is not the only autoimmune disease with increased yeast antibodies. The same has been found in lupus patients, and rheumatoid arthritis, another joint disease called ankylosing spondylitis, autoimmune liver disease, and autoimmune thyroid disease. So, might avoiding yeast help those conditions, too? They haven't been put to the test, but hidradenitis suppurativa has. What is that?" [see the video for details]
