The first time I'd heard of this concept was around the last week of January 2019. At that point, my intuition told me, "I'm not ready for this; it sounds dangerous."
A few weeks later, I heard of NDS (New Diet System) by B V Chouhan from Gujarat. One of the components in this system is daily dry fasting for 6-8 hours after waking up. Note: this should not be attempted in isolation — please study the entire system and adopt it as a whole.
For several weeks, I prepared myself to begin experimenting with the NDS protocol. My preparations involved gravitating to as much raw foods as possible. I set up a daily sprouting pipeline. In the end, this turned out to be unnecessary because the 'ideal NDS system' actually has no grains and no beans (!) I also started preparing raw salads and daily morning juice at home. Over time, I converted the juice into a green juice made from green leafy veggies and herbs like cilantro and mint.
About 14 days ago, I started following the NDS system diligently. Initially, I picked up about 80% to 90% of the guidelines. Over time, I increased the percentage of guidelines. In about 7 days, I weaned away from sprouts but I continued with cooked foods: about 1 cooked meal every 2 days.
By chance, on Saturday, I was only on fruits and water. On Sunday, I slept extra and a lazy day naturally turned into a 'dry fasting' day - I hadn't planned to make it so.
Even about 4-5 days ago, I couldn't imagine doing a 24-hr dry fast because I used to feel thirsty in the mornings when following the NDS protocol. But Sunday was different — I did feel thirsty but it was so mild (kinda non-existent) that I could ignore it. I experienced some hunger in the evening but again, it was so mild that I could ignore it.
So here I am on Monday morning, writing this update!
