CSIRO Microbiome Videos

Disclaimer
In 2014-2015, CSIRO produced videos explaining our gut microbiome, fiber, resistant starch and colon cancer! CSIRO is Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation), an Australian federal government agency for scientific research.

Videos are listed below. They are also part of two overlapping playlists: Hungry Microbiome Playlist (11 videos) and The Gut Microbiome (7 videos).

The videos are technically rich but I was able to grasp the big picture. Worth watching. They complement Dr Greger's microbiome videos nicely.

(2014, 4 mins) Why Resistant Starch is Good for You

(4 mins) A cool animation video explaining how resistant starch operates inside our guts! Technically detailed.

(2015, 12 mins) Gut Microbiome
(2015, 15 mins) The Digestive System
(2015, 15 mins) Starch

At offset 7:47 in this video, I found simple explanations for these questions: (a) How is starch digested? (b) What are the 4 types of resistant starch?

RS1: Legumes and partially milled grains

RS2: Raw potato and unripe banana

RS3: Heating and cooling (potatoes and sweet potatoes)

RS4: Chemically modified starch emerging from industrial processing

(2015, 8 mins) Starch Fermentation
(2015, 9 mins) Starch Digestion
(2015, 15 mins) What are the Molecular Effects of Butyrate?
(2015, 9 mins) Understanding Colon Cancer
(2015, 10 mins) The Anatomy of the Colon and Colon Cancer
(2015, 16 mins) Biochemistry of Carbohydrates
