Dr Hiromi Shinya is a Japanese born general surgeon. He pioneered modern colonoscopic techniques. In his book (The Enzyme Factor), he outlines dietary guidelines for optimum health. He eliminates all animal products except small quantities of fish. He emphasizes that we must really remove milk and milk products for healthy guts. And he eliminates processed and extracts like sugar and oil. On the whole, his guidelines have substantial overlap with Whole Food Plant-Based guidelines.

For optimum gut health, Dr Chutkan emphasizes a 100% plant-only diet without chemical-laden processed foods. In contrast, Whole Food Plant-Based advocates like Esselstyn, Barnard, Ornish, McDougall, … advocate a low fat diet with zero oil.
