(2022) The Anti-Viral Gut

by Dr Robynne Chutkan (272 pages, AmazonGoodReads)

In this presentation (111 mins, 2022), Dr Chutkan motivates adoption of plant-based guidelines from the perspective of gut health:

"Creating an anti-viral gut is quite frankly is the same thing as creating an anti-inflammatory gut which is the same thing as creating an anti-cancer gut because the common factors that lead to an increase in viral infection also lead to an increased in inflammation in cancer, in autoimmune diseases, etc."

For optimum gut health, Dr Chutkan emphasizes a 100% plant-only diet without chemical-laden processed foods. Howver, many of her recipes are high fat — they contain oils and coconut milk, for example. In contrast, Whole Food Plant-Based advocates like Esselstyn, Barnard, Ornish, McDougall, … advocate a low fat diet with zero oil.
