Dr Brooke Goldner On Moderation

Brooke Goldner helps autoimmune patients with a specialized short-term (multi-week) protocol centered around daily green smoothies (and very little of other foods). Such a protocol is difficult to follow and is met with resistance by some patients. Why? They find it difficult to adhere to such a regimen.

At a Clubhouse session, one of the patients said that they are already vegan and that they are eating as much raw as they can but they know that they should eat more, so what should they do? Brooke Goldner offers this perspective in a 1-min video:

"There is information and then there is action. When you say stuff like "I'm eating as much as I can or as raw as I can but I know I should eat more", you don't wanna put qualifiers like that for yourself."

"If you have a disease and you want to get rid of the disease, it's going to take aggressive action. Because just as I said, it has taken years to get so much information from so many causes that you finally activated that gene for disease. It takes an aggressive counter action to eliminate it. You can't make minor changes and have it go away. You have to aggressively go after it."

"If you have a forest fire out of control, you're not just going to bring a hose. Right! You're going to bring in airplanes and the helicopters and the fire trucks, all full of water. You need all the neighboring fire companies to come. That's hypernourishment. You're not going to put out a fire by eating a little bit more raw and eating vegan. You need to really aggressively hypernourish and you have to go after it to get results."

"Don't put qualifiers on what you can do. Do WHATEVER IT TAKES because it's worth it!"

(3 mins, 2022) Everything In Moderation
Moderation

FB post:

A common comeback to a discussion on the best nutrition, is "everything in moderation." This phrase is a way out of these important conversations, a dismissal of common sense and healthy behavior.

Nowadays, people use the word moderation to mean PERMISSION to do harmful things as desired, like eating unhealthy food or using alcohol or drugs. It presumes that doing some harmful and some healthy things together will all end up balancing out for you. However, it doesn't work. Besides, do you REALLY use moderation, taken in this context, on anything important to you? Do you use moderation when deciding whether to show up to work? I'm guessing no if you're still employed. How about moderation with fidelity to your spouse or partner? I hope not.

That is because when something matters, we use COMMITMENT, not moderation.

What matters more than your health? Without that, everything else disappears.

So if you think moderation means permission to do harmful things, use moderation with moderation!

When you are healthy you can handle a little harm and recover if you stay nourished. I will have the occasional inflammatory meal or drink, but I have been healthy for over 15 years. And I consume the antidote everyday by keeping hyper-nourished. If you are sick though, you need to take your food and your health seriously and COMMIT to yourself and your health. The way to amazing health is COMMITMENT.

By the way, the REAL definition of moderation is RESTRAINT and CONTROL. It was originally used to warn people away from harmful behaviors. So if you consider that real definition, then I agree, when it comes to foods that can harm you, use CONTROL to avoid them.

Moderation

When you're trying to change your health it takes a concerted effort, concentration, motivation and commitment. Your body doesn't understand almost, it only understands if you're doing it or not doing it. If you want to heal, you're either doing what it takes to make that happen or you're not. If you're not getting the results you want, then take the dive and go all in. You'll be so glad that you did. if you need my help to do it, I'm happy to help you.

Cheat Meals

There are no "cheat meals" during healing.

Eating something inflammatory is like ripping the scab off of a healing wound. It causes set-backs. It keeps you from your results.

It's like running every day to lose fat, and then eating cake. There is some benefit, but you are never going to be done.

So stop using the words "cheat meals". You are either eating to heal, or eating to get sicker. Cheat meals will cheat you out of your results. You deserve better.
