"Two years ago, I as overweight. Even thought I knew all the complications of obesity and overweight, I was matter of fact obese. My BMI (Body Mass Index) was 31. That put me right into the obese category. Obesity brings with its own complications and its own issues. I had high blood pressure. I was on two medications and my blood pressure was still running into 130-140 range. I had very bad cholesterol profile. My triglycerides, which is a type of fat in the blood, was 400: very alarmingly high. My HDL, which is the good cholesterol, was 28: extremely low. That itself put me into high risk for having heart blockage and heart attacks. My blood sugar was 100 which put me right into prediabetic category. My hemoglobin a1c was 5.9: 6.5 is diabetes; 5.9 is prediabetes. I was heading towards a major health catastrophe. I was heading towards a heart attack. I was heading towards diabetes. I was heading towards passive stroke. Then a wake up call came. My a1c was 5.9. I was going through lifestyle change."
