The first part of this presentation is Ron Weiss' personal story.
Early in the talk above, he explains that his father got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer when Ron was in medical school. His doctor gave him 90 days to live. In desperation, Ron looked for ideas. He knew that pancreatic cancer patients do not survive beyond a few months on average. He started browsing through books in a local library and chanced upon a 'Macrobiotic Diet' centered around brown rice, seaweed, vegetables (cruciferous and others), no fruits, some beans, some mushrooms, and so on. His dad's health improved dramatically. One year later, when he and his dad met the same cancer specialist who had given him 90 days to live, the specialist expressed great surprise and was keen to know what helped his dad improve. When his dad started narrating that he was consuming brown rice, seaweed, veggies, …, the cancer specialist refused to believe what he was hearing.
