How are colon cancer and food choices inter-related? The story is narrated well in Dr Greger's videos below. An intriguing observation is this: the rate of colon cancer in African populations is very low. However, the rate among the populations of African origin in USA is very high. What's the difference? As much as 50 times! Clearly, some lifestyle factor is at play. What exactly is it? Through the videos below, Dr Greger builds the story that the root cause is high intake of animal products which results in a low fiber diet. In other word, to avoid colon cancer, we should eat a lot of fiber. In other words, for healthy guts, we should eat lots of plants!

I found all the videos below fascinating and informative. Worth watching to understand how high consumption of animal products and low fiber diets leads to gut health problems which may in turn lead to colon cancer.

For a deeper understanding of some of content below, it may help to first study Bowel Movements, Fiber, Resistant Starch and Gut Microbiome, all of which are inter-related.
