The world is experiencing an obesity epidemic. People worldwide are becoming more and more overweight and obese. What's causing this epidemic?
In 2020, Dr Greger published an 11-video series looking at various forces believed to be behind the ongoing obesity epidemic. He explores all of these topics: food marketing, processed foods — calorie dense & addictive foods, industrial influence on dietary guidelines, taxpayer subsidies and so on.
Why do hospital cafeterias serve junk food? Dr Greger explains.
How is food marketed to kids? Anna Lappe and Dr Greger explain.
Does meat consumption lead to weight gain? Drawing upon the findings of the PANACEA Study, Dr Greger says, "Yes!"
Prevailing theories of obesity revolve around poor diet and physical inactivity. In recent years, a third factor has been proposed which is environmental: obesogens. These are chemicals found in food and products we use in everyday life. Dr Greger estimated that among dietary sources, fish may have the maximum concentration of obesogens.
